-674pro fidelibus defunctis, offer pro illis opera poenitentiae, tui abnegationis et mortificationis, opera tui zeli aliaque bona opera..." (cf. Instructiones Marianorum, XVI). (cf. Instructiones Marianorum, XVI). In his "Norma Vitae" the Servant of God (before 1687) declared that one of the principal particular ends of his Institute is to aid "with the greatest assiduity, piety, fervor" ("summo studio, pietate, fervore") "the suffering souls and especially those of deceased members of the armed forces and the victims of pestilence" ("praecipue militum et peste extinctorum"), and even prescribed effective means towards this end. In his Last Will and Testament (both in 1692 and 1699) he recommends to the Marians "fervent assistance for the deceased" ("ferventem defunctis opitulationem"). According to the testimony of his contemporaries, the Marians, under the guidance of the Servant of God, "... dedicated themselves sedulously... as dictated by the goal of their vocation... to the liberation of the souls of the faithful from purgatory" and, consequently, merited for themselves in 1699 the high recognition of Bishop Wierzbowski, who praised them for their "exceptional charity towards the living and the dead". The Servant of God Casimir Wyszyński informs us that Father Stanislaus, desirous of providing the maximum relief for the souls in purgatory, solicited the help also of the faithful, thus calling upon the "pilgrim church" to come to the aid of the "suffering church". In his "Templum Dei Mysticum" he gives us the following reason for this:"... it is the highest
