Pillars of Fire In My Soul

Trust Trust! — That is the great cry of Jesus in this devotion . Just as by means of the devotion to His Most Sacred Heart He wanted to awaken in us sentiments of mutual love, especially expiatory love, so once again, by means of this devotion, He desires to enkindle in our wayward hearts sentiments of the deepest possible trust — quite simply, a limitless trust — in His mercy. The Savior cried: The flames of mercy are demanding that I spend them; I want to keep pouring them out upon souls... (Diary, 1074). He sorrowfully complained about distrust: Distrust on the part of souls is tearing at My heart of hearts. The distrust of a chosen soul causes Me even greater pain; despite My inexhaustible love for them, they distrust Me... (Diary, 50). He commanded Sister Faustina to write for the consolation of all people: Let the greatest sinners place their hope in My mercy. They have the right before others to trust in the bottomless depth of My mercy... They give Me great pleasure — those souls that make an appeal to My mercy! To such souls I grant graces surpassing their desires. I cannot punish even the greatest sinner if he makes an appeal to My compassion, but, on the contrary, I justify him in My unfathomable and inscrutable mercy... (Diary, 1146) . The Savior keenly exhorts people to hasten to Mercy before Justice closes in: Write: before I come as a just Judge, I first open wide the door of My mercy.
