through the door of My mercy must pass through the door of My justice 11 (Diary, 1146) . By means of visions, our Lord often gave Sister Faustina to understand the enormity of humanity’s sins. Horrified by their hideousness, she asked Him how He could suffer such gross insults. His reply: I have eternity for punishing [these] , and so I am prolonging the time of mercy for the sake of [sinners] . But woe to them if they do not recognize the time of My visitation... Secretary of My mercy, your duty is not only to write about and proclaim My mercy, but obtain grace for them with your entreaties, that they, too, may glorify My mercy (Diary, 1160) . At another time Jesus said to her: Write that the greater the misery of a soul, the greater its right to My mercy; [urge] all souls to trust in the unfathomable abyss of My mercy, because I want to save them all. On the cross, the fountain of My mercy was opened wide by the lance for all souls — no one have I excluded! (Diary, 1182). V. MEANS TO ATTAIN THE GOAL One who sincerely wants to attain a goal, especially a great one, must use the proper means to attain it; otherwise, one runs the risk of being justly criticized for entertaining a fleeting fancy instead of acting upon a genuine desire. Hence, Our Redeemer wants , indeed, it is His ardent desire , that presently there be stirred up in humanity a new surge — a new conversion, by means of which it will be saved. On what will this conversion depend? It will depend on people’s willingness to recognize and admit that they erred grievously: that they broke off from the source of their peace Divine Mercy … We Trust in You! 43
