22 a word from the publisher The anthology does not follow any chronological order. First comes the Rule of Life, because this work is most characteristic for the spirituality of Fr. Papczyński and the Congregation of Marian Fathers, which he founded. Subsequent works are arranged according to size, from the largest to the shortest. The Annex concluding the book contains three documents, none of which were written by Fr. Stanislaus Papczyński. They are the précises of the Marian Founder’s letters, drawn up by the Congregation for Bishops and Religious in Rome. All St. Stanislaus’ works are preceded in this book by an introduction, explaining their nature, circumstances of their creation and their significance. This applies also to the three documents in the Annex. The introductions were borrowed from Pisma Zebrane – a Polish-language translation of St. Stanislaus’ writings – released inWarsaw, Poland in 2016 by the Marian Fathers’ Publishing House Promic. The only exception is the introduction to Oblatio. The introductions were translated into English, which – like Latin in the past – is often called today the main universal language of modern man, being the primary language of the sciences and higher education in many countries. To close, we hope to see the present publication become, in the future, a useful instrument for Latin-speaking international researchers studying Church history of the 17th century and its accompanying spirituality.
