21 ??? AWord From the Publisher Sanctus Stanislaus Papczyński’ Scripta Collectanea is an anthology of the Marian Founder’s Latin works which have survived to our times. Saint Stanislaus also wrote in his native Polish, but the manuscripts of his Polish writings have not survived. Scriptural quotations used throughout these works are the original quotations that St. Stanislaus took from the Latin Vulgate Bible. Two important events inspired the publication of this anthology. The first – and most important one – is our desire to celebrate the 5th Anniversary of the Canonization of Fr. Stanislaus, which took place on June 5, 2016, in the Vatican. Another no less important event is the 350th Anniversary of the Founding of the Congregation of Marian Fathers, which took place on December 11, 1670. The anthology, presented here, is based on critical editions of St. Stanislaus’ original Latin works, prepared for publication in 1998-2001 by the late Casimir Krzyżanowski, MIC, and released successively as separate books as part of the series Fontes Historiæ Marianorum (Nos. 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11), published by the Institutum Historicum Marianorum. Compared to the original edition prepared by C. Krzyżanowski, MIC, this edition introduces some minor changes to better assist the reader. C. Krzyżanowski gave variants of words or expressions (taken from other editions and archival versions of the text) as footnotes at the end of each page, but in this present edition the same explanations and comments have been placed immediately after the sentence they refer to or at the end of the relevant paragraph. Scripta Collectanea would have never seen the light of day, had it not been for the dedicated work of Marina Batiuk, who performed the great work of collecting and arranging scattered individual volumes, previously edited and published – as mentioned earlier – by C. Krzyżanowski. For this work, we express to M. Batiuk our deep gratitude.
