Te wspólnoty mariańskie, które są generalnie bardziej narażone na trudności z powodu sytuacji, w jakiej żyją, wołają, o szczególną troskę i zainteresowanie ze strony nas wszystkich. Gdy tylko jest to możliwe, współbraciom pracującym w tych krajach powinniśmy nieść pomoc organizacyją, materialną i finansową. Szczególnie proszę poszczególne prowincje i inne wspólnoty rozsiane na świecie, by zachęcały i zezwalały współbraciom (którzy tego pragną i którzy są w stanie to uczynić) na podjęcie pracy we wspomnianych krajach. W najbliższej przyszłości z poszczególnymi wspólnotami zostaną przedyskutowane konkretne propozycje, jak można by zrealizować tego rodzaju pomoc. Kiedy zastanawiam się nad naszym życiem i powołaniem, uderzają mnie nowatorskie kierunki posługi podejmowane w obliczu nowych potrzeb i okoliczności. Za godną uwagi uważam pracą Marianów śpieszących z pomocą osobom cierpiącym na uzależnienia od alkoholu i narkotyków, jak też małżonkom i rodzinom dotkniętym tymi chorobami. Wród tych wysiłków na szczególną uwagę zasługuje zbudowany niedawno ośrodek dla osób uzależnionych, który działa przy sanktuarium licheriskim. Ośrodek ten zostanie w imieniu Zgro- populations which are the victims of incessant socio-economic and cultural changes, and which are discouraged by the injustices inflicted upon them, to the point that they often lose sight of the true sense and the authentic values of life." These Marian communities, which are generally more fragile due to the circumstances in which they live, call for special care and concern on the part of us all. When and where possible, we should provide logistical, material and financial support to the confreres laboring in these countries. I particularly ask the various Provinces and other communities throughout the world, to encourage and permit confreres who desire to do so and are capable, to labor in these countries. In the near future, concrete proposals will be discussed with various communities on how such assistance may be realized. As I reflect on our life and mission, I am also struck by some of the recent, innovative directions that our ministry is taking in response to new needs and circumstances. I find noteworthy the work being done by the Marians in different parts of the world to help those who suffer from addiction to alcohol and drugs, as well as the spouses and families affected by this illness. Among these efforts, particular attention should be given to the recently completed Center for Addicted Persons at the Licheń Shrine. This Center will be offered in the name of the Congregation as a "gift" to the Holy Father in commemoration of the Jubilee of the Incarnation [5] of the
