Tam, gdzie dotychczas Kościół był prześladowany i gdzie propagowano popierany przez państwo ateizm, duża liczba Marianów angażuje się w trudne zadanie reorganizaqi i tworzenia życia parafialnego oraz innych instytucji. Oferują oni opiekę duszpasterską i duchowe kierownictwo ludziom szukającym sensu życia i spragnionym nadziei. Równie ważny jest nasz udział w młodym Kościele w Afryce. Wprawdzie liczba pracujących tam współbraci nie jest tak wielka, ale oni także przez swe zaangażowanie w pracę parafialną i katechetyczną wznoszą istotny wkład w życie Kościoła. Są oni ważnym znakiem chrześcijańskiej solidarności w tej części świata, która jest nękana przez skutki przemocy i wyzysku ze strony obcych krajów. Wszędzie, gdzie pracują Marianie, współbracia angażują się w ważną i znaczącą działalność duszpasterską. Obecność Marianów we wspomnianych krajach ma też szczególne znaczenie dla całego Zgromadzenia. W tych krajach, gdzie potrzeby są wyjątkowo naglące, nasza duszpasterska obecność jest szczególną formą wypełnienia słów, jakie skierował do nas Ojciec Święty podczas uroczystości beatyfikacyjnych Odnowiciela: "... idźcie bardziej niż kiedykolwiek do rosnących rzesz nowych ubogich różnych kultur, aby móc odpowiedzieć na ich najgłębsze aspiracje, na ich pragnienie prawdy, sprawiedliwości i miłości..."; czyli: zwróćcie Eastern Europe, particularly the countries of the former Soviet Union. Here, a large number of Marians are engaged in the difficult task of reorganizing and establishing parish life and other ecclesial institutions where the Church was suppressed and where State sponsored atheism held sway. The pastoral care provided by our confreres offers spiritual and moral direction to a people who are hungry for meaning and hope in their fives. Equally significant is our participation in the young Churches of Africa. Though the number of confreres laboring here is smaller, they too, make an important contribution to the life of the Church by their parish work and catechetical efforts. They provide an important sign of Christian solidarity and service in a part of the world that has been troubled by the consequences of violence and by foreign exploitation. In every place where Marians work, our confreres are engaged in important and worthwhile pastoral activity. But the Marian presence in the countries noted above has a particular value for the whole Congregation. In these countries, where the need is especially acute, our pastoral presence is a special fulfillment of the words addressed to us by the Holy Father at the time of our Renovator's Beatification: "... let yourselves be drawn to the swelling ranks of the new poor of various cultures, so as to be able to respond to their deepest aspirations, their thirst for truth, justice and love..."; that is: to "persons who suffer isolation; families and
