Wnioski, jakie wynikają z naszej refleksji nad słowami Anioła Gabriela skierowanymi do Maryi i nad ich znaczeniem dla naszego mariańskiego powołania, stawiają przed nami piękny, ale wymagający ideał. Od ostatnich obchodów naszego patronalnego święta miałem wiele okazji do zastanawiania się nad naszym mariańskim powołaniem. W tym czasie miałem sposobność zapoznać się z bliska z życiem Zgromadzenia w różnych częściach świata. Odbyłem wizytacje generalne w Afryce i na Ukrainie, w prowincji brazylijskiej, angielskiej i polskiej (łącznie z afiliowanymi do niej wspólnotami na Białorusi, w Czechach i w Niemczech). Poza tym miały miejsce oficjalne wizyty w prowincji litewskiej, łotewskiej i w Stanach Zjednoczonych. Te odwiedziny dały mi bezcenną sposobność do lepszego poznania Zgromadzenia i bezpośredniego zapoznania się z okolicznościami, zadaniami, zaletami i wadami naszego życia i pracy w różnych krajach. Do tej refleksji pobudzały też kościelne obchody Wielkiego Jubileuszu Wcielenia Pańskiego. Stolica Święta podkreślała przy wielu okazjach, że Jubileusz przypomina nam o misji głoszenia Chrystusa całemu światu i uświadamia nam, iż na początku nowego tysiąclecia misja ta pozostaje daleka od wypełnienia (por. Dominus Iesus, 1-2). Dlatego wezwanie do podejmowania misji ewangelizacyjnej stanowi szczególny element wszelkiej refleksji nad naszym powołaniem: Czy jest coś, co możemy jeszcze uczynić, aby skuteczniej świadczyć o Chrystu3. The insights gleaned from our reflection on the Angel Gabriel's words to Mary, and their reflection in our Marian vocation, provide us with an attractive but demanding vocational ideal to realize. In the year since the last celebration of our patronal feast, I have had the opportunity to reflect often on our Mahan vocation. In this time, there have been many occasions to experience at close hand our Congregation in various parts of the world. There have been General Visitations of the communities in Africa and the Ukraine, and of the Provinces in Brazil, Great Britain and Poland (including its filial communities in Belarus, the Czech Republic and Germany). In addition, there have been official visits to our Provinces in Lithuania, Latvia and the United States. These visits have provided the precious opportunity to come to know the Congregation better, to experience directly the circumstances, challenges, advantages and disadvantages that affect our life and work in these various countries. Tlis reflection hets also been stimulated by the Church's celebration of the Great Jubilee of the Incarnation of the Lord. As the Holy See has noted on numerous occasions, the Jubilee reminds us of the Church's constant proclamation of Christ before the whole world and the realization at the beginning of the new millennium that this mission is still far from complete (e.g., Dominus Iesus, 1-2). Thus, the challenge to further the mission of evangelization adds a special note to
