-661mocno wierzyć i ufać, że Pan będzie nadal błogosławił naszemu Zgromadzeniu i że nie odmówi modlitwom błagalnym naszej Niepokalanej Matki o powołania do Jej Zgromadzenia. Nasza ponad 300-letnia historia jest dostatecznym dowodem tejże Matczynej troski i opieki. Ale to bynajmniej nie zwalnia nas, z obowiązku czynienia wszystkiego co leży w ramach ludzkich możliwości aby wyszukiwać powołanych, zachęcać i prowadzić młodzieńców w nasze szeregi. W chwili obecnej, gdy przygotowujemy się do świętaNiepokalanego Poczęcia poprzez uczestnictwo w dorocznej uroczystej nowennie poprzedzającej to Święto, przychodzą mi na myśl słowa Naszego Bożego Zbawiciela skierowane do jego Apostołów: "Proście więc Pana żniwa, żeby wyprawił robotników..." Parafrazując te słowa, pozwól- cie, że powiem: "Moi drodzy Bracia w Chrystusie, prośmy Naszą Matkę..." Powinniśmy modlić się jak gdyby wszystko zależało od Boga i Jego Niepokalanej Matki, lecz dzałać jak gdyby powodzenie zależało jedynie od naszych własnych wysiłków. Nasz ostatni Konwent Generalny wakazał na czym ma polegać to działanie. Tu chciałbym podkreślić potrzebę stałej modlitwy o powołania, a zwłaszcza modlitwy do Najświętszej Maryi Panny. Smutną jest rzeczą przyznać, że istnieje nawet wewnątrz naszego Zgromadzenia świadectwo czegoś, co by skłaniało do sądzenia, że "obawiamy się" znaleźć w Maryi odpowiedź na każdą naszą potrzebę - czy to osobistą, wspólnotową czy kościelną: tendenq'a bless our Congregation and will not refuse our Immaculate Mother's intercessory prayers for vocations to Her Congregation. Our more than three-hundred year history is ample proof of that Maternal solicitude and protection. But this in no way absolves us from doing everything humanly possible to seek out, to encourage, to lead young men into our ranks. At this moment, as we prepare ourselves for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception through our participation in the annual solemn novena in preparation for the Feast, I am reminded of the words of Our Divine Saviour to his Apostles: "Ask the Father to send laborers..." And as a paraphrase let me say: "My dear Brothers in Christ, let us ask Our Mother..." We must pray as if everything depended on God and His Immaculate Mother, and act as. if success de pended solely on our own efforts. Our last General Conventus revealed to us just what our "activity" should be. Here, I am concerned with the element of constant prayer for vocations, and especially prayer to Our Blessed Lady. It is sad to admit that there exists, even within the Community, some evidence that would cause us to judge that we seem to be "afraid" to see in Mary an answer to all our needs - whether personal, communitarian or ecclesial - a tendency to set aside, to down-grade or even eliminate completely, many of the traditional devotions and external signs of our inner love and fililal attachment to our Divine Mother.
