Album of the Deceased Marian Fathers and Brothers
In 2004, Brother JOHN OBRĘBSKI (Ob-remb-ski), age 66, a member of the Polish Province of Divine Providence, died at the Hospital of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Rome. He served at our general house in Rome, holding at different times offices of the general treasurer and house treasurer. He is buried buried in theMarian Fathers’ tomb in Campo Verano, Rome. J uly 21 On July 21, 1803, the ceremony of Christian burial of KRZYSZTOF CIESZKOWSKI (Chesh-kov-ski), the chief officer of Zbuczyn and the governor of Liw, took place at the church in Skórzec. For his exemplary service as a warrant officer in the hussars, he was decorated with orders of the White Eagle and of St. Stanislaus. He served many times as an envoy to Mazovia and Volhynia. In 1794 — after the fire had taken the wooden church — he funded a new stone church in Baroque style and monastery for the Marian Fathers in Skórzec in thanksgiving for the healing of his eyesight, which was attributed to the miraculous crucifix of Skó- rzec. As a particular benefactor of our Order, the General Chapter of 1791 admitted him to share in the spiritual goods of the Marians. In 1949, Father ROBERT WIERZEJSKI (V'e-zhe-y-ski) died at the age of 69 at the house in Bielany, Warsaw. He was a priest for 38 years and a religious for 36. Renowned as a biologist, he joined our Congregation in Fribourg. He was the first principal and a professor at the College at Bielany, where he founded a museum of natural sciences and ethnography, filled with many objects gathered during his long trips to South America, China and Japan. Humble and devout, he was highly esteemed as a man of great gentleness and diligence. He is buried in the Marian Fathers’ section of the Wawrzyszew cemetery in Warsaw. J uly 22 On July 22, 1973, BrotherANTHONYVAIČIUNAS (Va-y-ch'unas), a mem- ber of the Lithuanian Province, died at the age of 59. He was a religious for 38 years. Always faithful to his vocation, during the persecution of the Church he labored as a sacristan, organist and gardener. He is buried in the cemetery in Zemaitkiemis. In 1983, Father ALBIN BUDRIKIS , a member of the Lithuanian Province, died at the age of 67. He was a religious for 50 years and a priest for 39. After the suppression of religious institutes, he fulfilled the duties of pastor in various parish- es. He was greatly appreciated as a preacher, confessor and spiritual director. Partially paralyzed for the last eight years of his life he, nevertheless sought to be a useful servant of Christ and the Church until his death.
