† A LBUM OF THE D ECEASED F ATHERS AND B ROTHERS † 94 In 1955, Brother JOSEPH APŠEGA died at the age of 73 at the house in Chicago, Illinois. He was a religious for 25 years and dedicated himself to manual labor. He is buried in the section reserved for the Marians in St. Casimir’s cemetery in Chicago. In 1976, Father JULIAN CHRÓŚCIECHOWSKI ( Khrus’-che-khovski), a member of the Province of Great Britain, died at the age of 64 at the house of Fawley Court, England, having suffered long from leukemia. He was a religious for 27 years and a priest for 23. Born in Poland, he began his religious and priestly life in the U.S. as a member of theAmerican Province of St. Stanislaus Kostka. He was a member of the general council in Rome for 6 years, became the first superior of the vice-province, and later of the province in Great Britain. Aman of extraordinary diligence, he dedicated much of his time to spreading the Divine Mercy message and preserving and editing the sources on our Congregation’s history and spiritual- ity. He is buried in the cemetery in Henley-on-Thames. J uly 17 On July 17, 1949, Father JOSEPHVAITKEVIČIUS , a member of theAmer- ican Province of St. Casimir, died in Marian Hills, Illinois, at the age of 68. He was a priest for 46 years and a religious for 37. He studied in Warsaw and Fribourg, where he entered the novitiate in 1911. He was a professor at the Seminary of Włocławek and then, for two years, the secretary to Blessed George. He also held the office of superior in Lithuania. Starting in 1925, he served in the U.S. as an edu- cator of seminarians and then in Rome as general councilor and Secretary General. He was a man of great erudition, extraordinary diligence and was intensely active as a preacher. He is buried in the section reserved for the Marians in St. Casimir’s cemetery in Chicago. In 1984, Brother PIUS GUDULEVIČIUS died at the age of 72 at the house in Avellaneda, Argentina. He was a religious for 55 years. For 15 years he served with dedication the Roman house community as a cook, assistant treasurer, and organist. In Argentina he zealously performed various works and carried out the duties of organist, choir director, administrator of the print shop and director of the magazine Laikas for 34 years. He is buried in Avellaneda. In 2010, Father STEPHEN SZWAJKOWSKI (Shvay-ko-ski), 72, died in Curitiba, Brazil. He was a religious for 54 years and a priest for 44. In the beginning, he carried out various duties at Polish parishes, and then, together with other five Marians, he was dispatched to serve in Brazil in 1980. There he provided pastoral care for remote chapels (as many as 50 at some point) and for Indian families. In addition to having a kidney tumor, he suffered a stroke that left him almost com- pletely paralyzed. In the last months of his life he was cared for by members of the
