In 1860, Father PAUL PETER SZUMOWSKI (Shoo-mof-ski) died at the monastery in Skórzec, having patiently suffered from paralysis for four years. He was a religious for 43 years and a priest for 33. He is buried in the crypt of the church in Skórzec. In 1946, Brother GEORGE GRIGAS , a novice of the American Province of St. Casimir, died at the age of 19 due to an unfortunate accident. J uly 11 On July 11, 1793, Father MAURICE ŻARNOWSKI (Zhar-nof-ski), a young priest, died of pulmonary complications and was buried in in the crypt of the Raśna church. In 1953, Brother JOHNWEREDA (Vereda) died in a Warsaw hospital at the age of 37. He was a member of the Polish Province for 11 years. He was a student of music and organist at our church in Warsaw-Praga. He is buried in the Marian Fathers’ section of the Wawrzyszew cemetery in Warsaw. J uly 12 On July 12, 1990, Father JOHN ŠAULIS died at the age of 73 at the house in Darien, Illinois. He was a religious for 57 years and a priest for 50. He was engaged in pastoral ministry outside the community for 17 years, and for the last seven years of his life, he served at the parish in Darien. He is buried in the section reserved for the Marians in St. Casimir’s cemetery in Chicago. J uly 13 On July 13, 1834, all religious orders, their monasteries and convents were sup- pressed by law in Portugal. At the moment of suppression the following Marians resided at the monastery in Balsamão: — Father JOSEPH of the CROSS VIEIRA , the superior from 1830, a reli- gious for 50 years and a priest for 45. He remained at Balsamão until 1851, caring for the pilgrims, and died in Lagos in 1856 at the age of 68; — Father FRANCIS XAVIER DAS DORES , age 41, a priest for 10 years; — Father JOACHIM of SAINTANN TEIXEIRA ; — Father FRANCIS XAVIER DAS FLORES ; — Brother JOSEPHANTHONY GUERRA , a cleric;
