In 2004, Father HENRY TOMASZEWSKI died in Curitiba, Brazil, at the age of 90. He was professed in 1938 and ordained a priest in 1944. He came to Brazil as one of the first Marian Missionaries. He is buried in the Marian Fathers’ cemetery next to our Divine Mercy Shrine in Curitiba. J une 27 On June 27, 1972, Father PETER UPENIEKS died of a heart illness at the age of 66 in Riga, Latvia. He was a priest for 42 years and a religious for 38. He attracted many Lutherans to the Catholic Church by his word and testimony of exemplary life. After World War II, he was spiritual director and professor at the Riga Seminary for many years. He is buried in Riga. In 2021, Father EUGENE DELIKAT , a member of the Polish Province, passed away at our religious house in Licheń. He was 90 years old, having been a religious for 70 years and a priest for 63. He worked as a youth chaplain and prefect of seminarians, as well as a house superior and confessor for the novices in Skórzec and the seminarians in Lublin. From 1972 to 1974, he worked in the Province of St. Stanislaus Kostka in the U.S. For 6 years he served as the provincial superior in Poland. During his term in office, the Polish Province began its missionary service in Rwanda. In 1987, he was elected Vicar General of the Congregation. From 1994 to 2003, he undertook pastoral ministry in various religious houses of our Congregation in Germany, where he was also a delegate of the provincial superior. In 2010, he was transferred to the religious house in Licheń, where he remained until his death, serving as a confessor as much as his condition allowed. He is buried in the Marian Fathers’ cemetery in Licheń. J une 28 On June 28, 2003, Father WITOLD NIECIECKI (N'e-ch'ets-ki) died at the Marymont house in Warsaw on the memorial of the Immaculate Heart of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary. He lived for 78 years, 59 as a religious and 53 as a priest. He distinguished himself by great modesty and humility in his work for the Congregation. He fulfilled many important functions within the Congregation; pre- fect and spiritual director of the Marian seminarians, vicar provincial and finaly the superior of the Polish Province. In 1981, after the General Chapter in Rome, he was elected chairman of the Editorial Committee on the Constitutions and Directory . He was noted for making vital contributions to adapting our Marian Constitutions to the directives of the SecondVatican Council. He is buried in the Marian Fathers’ section of the Wawrzyszew cemetery in Warsaw. J UNE 87
