J une 11 On June 11, 1983, Brother ALEXIS CITOVIČ , a member of the Belarusian house in London, died of a heart attack at the age of 89. He entered our Con- gregation after the death of his wife and for 10 years served the community as a Lay Associate. He was later admitted into the novitiate and pronounced his first religious vows at the age of 86. He was a dedicated sacristan until his death, and was known for his piety and humility. He is buried in the cemetery of St. Pancracius in London. In 2015, Father JOHN PETRAUSKAS , a member of theAmerican Province, died in Matulaitis Nursing Home. He was 99 years old, a religious for 75 years and a priest for 72. He taught at the Marianapolis Preparatory School, later becoming its headmaster and serving in that capacity for 31 years. He influenced generations of students and faculty. During his time at Marianapolis, he wrote “The History of Marianapolis,” an extensive work on the school’s past. From 1991 to 2008, Fr. John served as the pastor of St. Casmir’s Church in Worcester, Massachusetts. He is buried in the Marian Fathers’ cemetery in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. J une 12 On June 12, 1881, Father JOHN ZIELIŃSKI (Zh'e-lin'-ski) died at the age of 67 at the monastery in Marijampolė. He was a religious for 48 years. He was a reli- gious education instructor in parochial schools. In 1863, the Russians exiled him to Siberia. After eight years there, he was granted amnesty and lived for four years in Livonia, returning later to Marijampolė, where he is buried. In 2012, Father DONALD PETRAITIS , a former General Superior of the Marian Fathers and the last provincial superior of the St. Casimir Province before its unification with the St. Stanislaus Kostka Province, died at the age of almost 75 at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Hospital in Worcester. He was a reli- gious for 56 years and a priest for 48. It was his responsibility as a General Superior to guide the Congregation during and in the aftermath of profound changes in Eastern Europe and in the Soviet Union, where many of our confreres lived and worked in secret. He also had the privilege to prepare the beatification ceremony of Blessed George Matulaitis-Matulewicz. He also prepared and presided over the his- torical 1993 General Chapter, which gathered representatives of the entire Marian Congregation for the first time since 1939. He will be remembered as a priest who always manifested deep faith in God’s goodness and Providence, as well as a man of courage.
