J UNE 81 for 35 years and a priest for 24. He studied in Marijampolė, Kaunas, Warsaw, Prague, and Rome. He served inArgentina for 9 years. In 1957, he was elected vicar general, and at the same time became the superior of the house in Rome. In 1964, he was named bishop by Pope Paul VI for the pastoral care of Lithuanian emigrants. He is buried in the Marian Fathers’ tomb in Campo Verano, Rome. In 2005, Father JOSEPH SIELSKI died at the age of 91 at the Villa Rosa Nursing Home in Mitchelleville, Maryland. The first American-born candidate to what would later become the St. Stanislaus Kostka Province, he was a religious for almost 60 years and a priest for 54. He studied at the Catholic University ofAmerica in Washington, D.C., and obtained a Licentiate in Theology there. He was the first superior of the Eden Hill house in Stockbridge. He organized our “Mission House” in Detroit, MI, and served as its first superior. In 1951, on the death of the first provincial (Fr. Łuniewski) he was elected to the office of provincial and held it for two terms. A general councilor in Rome starting in 1963, he was elected six years later to be General Superior and held this office for two terms. After his return to the United States, he was the director of the Marian Helpers Center in Stockbridge, then spiritual director in the Marian House of Studies in Washington, and later served as a chaplain at the St. Joseph Nursing Home in Catonsville, MD. Because of his failing health, he had to remain for four years in the “Marian Assisted Living residence” in Brookeville, MD. He contributed much to the growth of to St. Stanislaus Kostka Province. But he was also always ready to respond to the needs of the Congregation by extending the work of the members of the Province to England, Portugal, and Brazil. He was active in implementing the reforms enjoined on all religious commu- nities by the Second Vatican Council and worked on the revision of our Marian Constitutions. He is buried in the Marian Fathers’ cemetery on Eden Hill in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. J une 10 On June 10, 1813, Father CHARLES FILIPKOWSKI fell from the cupola of the church in Pniewnik (Pn’ev-nik), while trying to retrieve things that had been hidden from enemy soldiers. He died on the spot. He was 48 years old, a preacher of the monastery in Skórzec and assistant pastor in Pniewnik where he is buried. In 1958, BrotherANDREWŽEMAITIS , a member of theAmerican Province of St. Casimir, died at the house in Chicago, Illinois, at the age of 77. A religious for 33 years, he was highly regarded for his diligence and exemplary life. He is buried in the section reserved for the Marians in St. Casimir’s cemetery in Chicago. In 2008, Father BONIFACE VAIŠNORAS , associate pastor of St. Mary’s Parish in Plano, Illinois, died at the age of 89. He was a religious for 66 years and a priest for 61. He served at parishes in Plano and Yorkville, Illinois as well as in
