† A LBUM OF THE D ECEASED F ATHERS AND B ROTHERS † In 1994, Father JOSEPH ŚLIWAKOWSKI (S'leeva-kof-ski), a member of the Polish Province, died at the age of 80 at the house of Warsaw-Marymont. He was a religious for 45 years and a priest for 38. He was provincial secretary and councilor for four years. He held the offices of local superior and rector of the church at Warsaw-Bielany for some years. From 1961 onwards, he served with much zeal as a confessor for various Communities of Sisters and, despite his poor health, was engaged in pastoral activity in the parishes attached to our houses in Warsaw-Praga and Warsaw-Marymont. Aman with a deep interior life, he fostered the life of prayer and Mary-like humility in our community. He is buried in the Marian Fathers’ section of the Wawrzyszew cemetery in Warsaw. m ArCh 30 On March 30, 1890, Father JOSEPH ELISEUS MILEWSKI (Mi-lev-ski), age 55, died at the monastery in Marijampolė. He was a religious for 35 years. He fulfilled the duties of preacher at Igliaukai. After the suppression of this residence by the civil authority in 1865, he was transferred to Marijampolė where he held the office of Procurator. In addition, he taught Polish children in secret for which was punished by the Russian officials. He is buried in Marijampolė. In 1978, Father JOHN SZUREK died at the age of 70 in Pittsfield, Mass- achusetts. He was a member of the American Province of St. Stanislaus Kostka, a religious for 51 years and a priest for 40. Born and ordained in Poland, he studied theology in Rome. He worked together with Fr. Jarzębowski (Ya-zhem-bofski) in Santa Rosa, Mexico in setting up a colony for displaced persons from Poland, espe- cially orphans. Later, he was sent to the United States where he fulfilled various offices and dedicated himself to pastoral work. He was one of the first to serve in Balsamão, Portugal when the Marians returned in 1954, and one of the first three Marians sent to establish the mission in Nossa Senhora da Gloria, in Sergipe, Brazil, in 1965. It appears that he suffered a heart attack while in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. He is buried in the Marian Fathers’ cemetery on Eden Hill in Stockbridge, Mass- achusetts. In 1988, Brother JOHN (JONAS) DAUGIRDAS , a member of the Lithu- anian Province, a religious for 62 years, died at the age of 98. Before the dispersion of religious in Lithuania, forced by the Communist regime, he worked at the farm of our house of Patasne and was later an assistant treasurer at the house in Marijampolė. After the dispersion, he was the treasurer and supplied food and other necessities for the brothers remaining in Marijampolė. He was always willing to help others, even in his old age. He is buried in Marijampolė. 52
