m ArCh 26 On March 26, 1744, Brother HOMOBONUS MECNAR (Mets-nar) went to collect alms for the construction of the monastery in Góra Kalwaria. He never returned to the community and nothing is known about what happened to him. In 2011, Archimandrite ROMAN RICHARD PIĘTKA (Pien-tka), age 74, a religious for 57 years and a priest for 47, died of cancer at St. John of Dukla Oncology Center. Influenced by another Marian, Fr. Tomasz Podziawo, who was imprisoned in Soviet prison camps, he began to study the Byzantine-Slavic Rite and then worked throughout his entire life to promote the Byzantine Church tradition. He prepared a Menologion — a list of the saints venerated by the Eastern Church (along with their biographical notes and proper liturgical texts. He also translated into Polish various Latin-language writings, mainly those of St. Stanislaus Papczyński. For many years he taught Latin in our novitiate in Skórzec and at our seminary in Lublin. He received the gold medal Merited for the Church and the Nation (Ecclesiæ Populoque servitium præstanti) awarded to him by the Primate of Poland, Józef Cardinal Glemp. He is buried in Lublin. m ArCh 27 On March 27, 1803, Father MARK HERALD , a Czech by birth, died at the age of 46 at the parish in Piaseczno, where he was a chaplain. At the time of his death he was the superior of the monastery in Puszcza Korabiewska. He is buried in Piaseczno. In 1892, Father JOHN ŁOKICKI (Wo-kits-ki) died at the age of 82 at the monastery in Marijampolė. He was a religious for 63 years and a priest for 57. He was a renowned preacher. He is buried in Marijampolė. m ArCh 28 On March 28, 1942, cleric STANISLAUS BOGUCKI (Bog-oots-ki), a mem- ber of the Polish Province, ill with typhoid fever, died at the age of 25 in Czok-Pak, Kazakhstan. In 1941, while a student in Kaunas, Lithuania, the Communists deport- ed him and other clerics to Siberia. He was known for his love for the Congregation and his diligence. He is buried in a communal grave in Chok-Pak. m ArCh 29 On March 29, 1742, Father YVES BERLIŃSKI died, while engaged as a chaplain outside the monastery, He is buried in the crypt of the church in Skórzec.
