He was engaged in pastoral min- istry at various parishes, greatly appreciated for his catechetical instruction. Begin- ning in 1976, he ministered in Warsaw at our parishes attached to our houses in Marymont, Stegny, and eventually in Praga, where due to his unfailing efforts, the construction of a new church was brought to completion in 1992. During the last 5 years of his life, he was professor of catechetics at our Seminary in Lublin. He is buried in the Marian Fathers’ section of the Wawrzyszew cemetery in Warsaw. n oVember 21 On November 21, 1941, Brother STANISLAUS SAROSIEK died at the age of 72 at the house in Raśna. He was a member of the Polish Province for 20 years. When he joined our Congregation, he brought many beehives with him and worked as a beekeeper with great zeal and joy. He also attended to the sick with a merciful heart. He was animated with an apostolic zeal and was an ardent promoter of voca- tions. He is buried in Raśna. In 1993, Father ANTHONY ŠVEDAS , member of the American Province of St. Casimir, died at the age of 84 years at the house in Rosario, Argentina. He was a religious for 68 years and a priest for 59. He studied philosophy in Montreal, Canada, and theology in Rome, where he was also ordained a priest. After returning to the United States, he was active for four years as a teacher at the Marianapolis Preparatory School. Later he was a novice master at the Marian Hills house and served for eight years as a chaplain in the United States Army. Upon his return to the community, he was superior and pastor for two years in Chicago. In 1960, he was transferred to Argentina, where he fulfilled various offices, notably those of superior and novice master at the house in Rosario. He also dedicated much of his time to pastoral work in our parishes, giving particular attention to helping poor chil- dren. He is buried in Rosario. n oVember 22 On November 22, 1750, Father ANDREWDESZPOT (Desh-pot), a “Father of the Order,” died at the monastery in Goźlin. He entered our Congregation during the life of Father Founder, whose “sanctity and religious zeal” he spoke about fre- quently and extensively to his confreres. Elected General Superior for the first time in 1722 after the “Rostkovian dispersion,” he labored much for the stability of the Order. In 1723, through the efforts of the Procurator, Fr. Kozłowski, he obtained from the Holy See approval of our Constitutions, modeled on Father Founder’s Norma Vitae. He introduced the image of the Immaculate Virgin Mary as the seal of the Order and starting in 1743, governed the community for four more years. During his entire life he was “a most exemplary” religious and distinguished him- self by his gentleness and patience. “Most zealous in promoting devotion,” he was known for his diligence in hearing confessions. He is buried in Goźlin.
