n oVember 16 On November 16, 1974, Brother ALEXANDER PIASECKI (Pya-sets-ki) died of a heart attack at the age of 67 at the house in Skórzec. He was a member of the Polish Province for 48 years. He served the community with dedication for many years as a tailor at the house in Bielany and then in Skórzec, where he is buried. n oVember 17 On November 17, 1824, Father ADAM TARCZEWSKI (Tar-chef-ski) died at the age of 50, while serving as chaplain in Siedlce, where he is buried. In 1976, FatherCASIMIRALOYSIUSMATULAITIS died in London at the age of 82. He was a priest for 59 years and a religious for 57. He completed his stud- ies at Fribourg and obtained his Doctorate in philosophy. He was successively local superior in Chicago, Marijampolė, London, and Rome. He was the director of Draugas and Laivas , and vice-postulator for the beatification cause of Blessed George. He wrote a number of books on asceticism, hagiography, and history. He is buried in St. Pancratius’ cemetery in London. n oVember 18 On November 18, 1830, Father TIMOTHY PURWIŃSKI (Poor-vin'-ski), a “Father of the Order Emeritus,” died at the monastery in Marijampolė. He fulfilled the offices of president and novice master. Eulogized as “a truly religious man, dear to all,” he preached the Word of God with zeal for many years, dedicating himself especially to the instruction of the youth “both by word and more so, by example.” In 2001, Father JOHN JANCIUS died in Chicago. He was 92, a religious for 76 years and a priest for 67. He was provincial superior of St. Casimir Province and served as a parish priest in the last years of his life. He is buried in the section reserved for the Marians in St. Casimir’s cemetery in Chicago. n oVember 19 On November 19, 1966, Father CASIMIR ŚLIWA (Sh'liva), a member of the Polish Province, died of cancer at the age of 42 at the house in Bielany, Poland. He was a religious for 23 years and a priest for nine. Because of his activity as a youth catechist, he was harassed many times by the Communists. He is buried in the Marian Fathers’ section of the Wawrzyszew cemetery in Warsaw. In 1994, in Warsaw, Father CASIMIR ŚLIWIŃSK I (Sh'livin'-ski), a member of the Polish Province, died unexpectedly on the threshold of his 49 th year of life. N OVEMBER 141
