in 1858, and four years later went to Puszcza Korabiewska. In 1864 he was forced to transfer to Marijampolė. From 1865 onwards, he worked in parishes and for the last 11 years of his life he served as pastor in Boisk where he died and is buried. n oVember 8 On November 8, 1999, Father PETER SVIRKSTS , a member of the Latvian Province, died at the age of nearly 79. He was a religious for 48 years and a priest for 41. After ordination he worked for two years in our parish at Viļāni. Then, for 21 years, he carried out pastoral work in the parishes of Rikava and Nagli. Finally, for many years he worked mostly in the parish belonging to the residence of Izvalta, affiliated to the house of Rezekne. He is buried in Izvalta. n oVember 9 On November 9, 1945, Brother STEPHEN MEIKULANS , a member of the Latvian Province for 15 years, died at the age of 79. He was a gardener at the house in Viļāni, where he is buried. In 1989, Father BOLESLAUS ALOYSIUS JAKIMOWICZ (Ya-ki-mo- vich), a member of the Province of Great Britain, died at the age of 77 in the general- ate in Rome. He was a religious for 59 years and a priest for 47. Originally a mem- ber of the Polish Province, at the beginning of World War II he was forced to flee to Lithuania where he completed his ecclesiastical studies started in Warsaw and Rome. In 1941 he was exiled to Siberia. Subsequently, he joined the Polish Armed Forces, was ordained and passed with the Polish Army into the Middle East. After the war he returned to community life, fulfilled various offices and exercised an active pastoral ministry in the United States, England, Portugal, and Brazil. From 1970 until his death, he resided in Rome, fulfilling at various times the duties of gen- eral councilor and secretary, and promoting the beatification cause of the Venerable Servant of God Casimir Wyszyński, whose heroic virtues he was happy to see rec- ognized shortly before his death. He is buried in the Marian Fathers’ tomb in Campo Verano, in Rome. n oVember 10 On November 10, 1772, Brother BASIL BAŻANKOWSKI (Ba-zhan-kof- ski), age 52, a religious for 27 years, died at the monastery in Puszcza Korabiewska. As a treasurer, he diligently and with great solicitude sought to provide for the com- mon good. He is buried in the crypt of the Puszcza Korabiewska church. In 1799, Brother BARTHOLOMEWJARMARKIEWICZ (Yarmarkevich), a religious for 33 years, died at the age of 71 at the monastery in Góra Kalwaria, where he is buried. † A LBUM OF THE D ECEASED F ATHERS AND B ROTHERS † 138
