S EPTEMBER 111 s ePtember 3 On September 3, 1782, Father RAPHAEL DE BUFFA , an Italian, died in Lisbon at the age of 50. He was a religious for 30 years. He was received into the Order in Rome by Father Casimir Wyszyński. After his novitiate and studies in Poland, he was ordained and, along with Fr. Fischer, sent to Portugal where he became president of the monastery at Balsamão. He diligently fulfilled other duties as well and contributed much to the beatification process of the Venerable Servant of God Casimir. He is buried at the church of the Capuchin Fathers’ in Lisbon. s ePtember 5 On September 5, 1925, Father CONSTANTINE GIEDRYS (Gh'edris) died inWarsaw at the age of 46, during a surgery. He was a priest for 19 years and a reli- gious for 4. He was a military chaplain duringWorldWar I, was a gentle and devot- ed priest and served as treasurer for the Congregation. He manifested great confi- dence in Divine Providence and always maintained a joyful spirit. He is buried in the crypt of the church in Bielany, Warsaw. In 1944, Brother JOSEPH MIKIEL (Mih-k'el), a scholastic of the Latvian Province known for his simplicity and piety, died in Braslaw. He is buried in Druya. In 1954, cleric JOSEPH VOVERIS , a member of the Lithuanian Province, died in a hospital in Vilnius. He remained ever faithful to his vocation throughout the persecutions waged by the Communists. He is buried in Vilnius. s ePtember 7 On September 7, 1770, Brother MARTIN died at the monastery in Balsamão, where he is buried. In 1829, Father FRANCIS DOROCIŃSKI (Do-ro-chin'-ski) died at the age of 36 at Samogoszcz (Samo-gohsh-ch), where he was the curate. He was personal secretary to the General Superior. He is buried in Samogoszcz. In 1854, Father LAWRENCE DOBKIEWICZ (Dob-k'e-vich) died of cholera at the age of 53 in Shumsk, where he was the vicar at the parochial church. He is buried in Shumsk. s ePtember 8 On September 8, 1990, Father FRANCIS FREITAS , a member of the Portu- guese Vicariate, died at the age of 78 at the house of Balsamão.
