A UGUST 103 were admitted to share in the spiritual benefits of our Order. The earthly remains of the princely couple were laid to rest at the Holy Cross Basilica in Warsaw. In 1973, FatherANTHONYLIESIUS , a member of the Lithuanian Province, died at a psychiatric clinic in Kaunas at the age of 67. He was a priest for 40 years and a religious for 36. After World War II, he was deported by the Communists to Siberia for his pastoral activity among the youth. After a few years in exile, he was struck with mental illness and sent back to Lithuania. In a period of lucidity before death, he was able to receive the last sacraments. He is buried in Marijampolė. In 1988, Father HENRY SULEJ (Soo-ley), a member of the Polish Province, died at the age of 78 at the house in Stoczek, Poland. He was a priest for 51 years and a religious for 60. He studied in Rome, where he received his priestly ordina- tion. He completed his Doctoral studies in theology at Warsaw and for three years was Rector and professor of moral theology in our Institute at Bielany. He was a man of great learning and exceptionally good memory. When he became mentally ill in 1957, he was sent to Stoczek, where he resided until his death, leading a life of great mortification and spending days in continuous prayer and spiritual reading. He is buried in Stoczek Warmiński. A ugust 14 On August 14, 1908, Father MATTHIAS GILIS (Gee-lis) died. For many years he fulfilled the duties of treasurer and preacher of the monastery at Marijampolė. After his death only the General Superior remained alive in what was at the time the last standing monastery of the Order. He is buried in Marijampolė. In 1973, the LayAssociate JOSEPH SAULIUNAS died at the age of 78 at the residence in Nottingham, England, where he is buried. A ugust 16 OnAugust 16, 1948, Father RICHARD BAKALARCZYK , a member of the newly formed American Province of St. Stanislaus Kostka, died at the age of 63 at the house on Eden Hill in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. He was ordained in Poland in 1912 and seven years later, began his novitiate in Bielany, Warsaw. In 1922, along with Fr. Jakowski, he came to the United States and undertook an intense preaching apostolate among Polish speaking people, in parishes and for communities of reli- gious sisters. From 1931 to 1937, along with other priests, he extended his ministry into the apostolate of the press, publishing over six million popular religious pam- phlets. In 1931, he founded the Marian religious house in Washington, D.C., from which developed the St. Stanislaus Kostka Province. He is buried on Eden Hill in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.
