Sister Faustina Kowalska: Her LIfe and MIssion
me: "Jesus certainly has some beautiful flowers in your garden ." " Finally, Fr. Casim ir D^browski S.J., who subs titu ted for the usua l confessor when Fr. Sopocko was away, cannot be omitted from th is account. A t once he reacted suspiciously to S is ter F au s t in a and gave h e r various hum ilia ting tes ts , which neverthe less finally convinced him th a t God was indeed acting w ithin h e r soul. S ister F au s tina noted in h e r Diary both the painful confes sions and the las t, which was edifying. S ister J . has recalled the in te res ting rem ark of Fr. D^browski about S ister F au s tina as penitent: "During a retreat after the death o f S ister Faustina, Fr. Dqbrowski S .J ., in d iscussing the revelations o f S ister Faustina, stated that, for him, the confirmation o f the reality o f those revelations was tha t when once as her spiritual director he forbade her to have any th ing to do with these matters (the revelations), he observed an expression o f jo y upon her face. He added tha t in these cases pious souls usually insist on their own opinion." All these p riests , whose positive opinions of S ister F au s tin a I have quoted, had un iversity qualifications in theology. Revv. Andrasz, E lter, Dubaj and D^ibrowski were Je su its , whose Society requ ires un iversity degrees in theology from its members. Rev. E. E lte r and Rev. M. Sopocko were professors a t universities, and Rev. T. C zapu ta tau g h t in a high school and was Rector of a seminary. I t appears th a t expert and experienced theologians recognized w ithou t difficulty the Divine action in the soul of th e ir pen iten t, and th e ir opinions of S ister F au s t in a are in agreement, although they were in a varie ty of spheres, and, with the exception of Fr. Sopocko and Fr. Andrasz, they did no t contact each other concerning her. 455
