B y her behaviour she tried to bring those about her nearer to God and encourage them to know God better and love Him ... I also heard from other sisters tha t later in life sisters would often turn to her for counsel in sp iritua l matters, and that she always gave good advice. When I sa id goodbye to her for the last time she encouraged me to work at self-control and to try to be un ited w ith God, saying tha t God had some special p lan s for me." The years have not dim inished th e freshness of he r account: "In the chapel we had kneelers next to each other. I always adm ired the way she prayed w ith the greatest concentration; she was like a statue... com­ pletely sunk in prayer. She always knelt upright, often w ithout even leaning against the kneeler. She used to pray in contemplation. She used a prayerbook or the Bible infrequently. " I f she used her m issal dur ing Mass it was only up to the Offertory, when she read the texts o f the Scriptures. A fter tha t she would close her m issal and pray in thought."
