Sister Faustina Kowalska: Her LIfe and MIssion

I wou ld not know how to su ffer w ithou t you , 0 Christ. O f myseCf I wouCd not he ahCe to hrave adversities. Alone, I wou ld not have the courage to drink, from fo u r cup; But you , Lord, are always w i th me, and yo u lead me along mysterious paths. (Diary, Notebook VI, para. 1654). I t seems th a t the redemptive work of Jesu s was most strongly fe lt by S ister F au s t in a in the Sacram en t of the A ltar. She always sought Him the re constantly avail able unde r the humble appearance of bread. This is why, when she tries to join h e r sacrifice with the redemptive sacrifice of h e r Lord, she often compares it to th e symbol of th e Host. Fasc ina ted by th is theme, she repea ts i t in a new version each time. 1 am a host in your hand, O Divine Driest, Do zvith me as y o u please; I am totally dependent on yo u r zvill, O Lord Decause it is the delight and adornment o f my soul. I am like- a host in you r hand, O L tem a l Driest, May the wafer o f my hody hide me from human eye; M y you r eye alone measure my love and devotion, Decause my heart is always united zvith you r Divine OLeart. I am Like a sacrificial host in yo u r hand, O Divine Mediator Am I hum on the altar o f holocaust, Crushed and ground hy suffering like grains o f wheat, A n d a ll this fo r the sake o f yo u r glory, fo r the salvation o f souls. 359
