For when the sp iritual conflicts had ended, S ister F au s tina - though in physical pain - m en ta lly entered a s ta te of happ iness which was gradually estab lish ing itse lf more firmly. 'My feart is drazvn there where my Qod is hidden., ‘Where Me dwells zvith us day and night, Clothed in the white Most; Me governs the whole world, Me communes zvith souls. M y heart is drazvn there where my Qod is hiding, ‘Where Mis love is immolated. ‘Bu t my heart senses that the living water is here; I t is my living Qod, though a veil hides Mint,’ (Diary, Notebook VI, para . 1591). Elsewhere, th e re occurs a s im ilar ecstasy on the same theme of God concealed in th e Eucharist: 'O ‘yo u who are hidden, body, sou l and divinity, ‘Under the fragile form o f bread, y o u are my life from ‘Whom springs an abundance o f graces And, fo r me, yo u surpass the delights o f heaven. ‘When y o u unite yourse lf zvith me in Communion, 0 Qod, 1 then f e e l my unspeakable greatness, A greatness which f low s from you , O Lord, I humbly confess, A n d despite my misery, zvith f o u r help, I can become a saint." (Diary, Notebook VI, para . 1718). 309
