The Lord Jesus found delight in [Sr. Faustina’s] soul, and chose her for an apostle of His mercy, instructing her to rouse sinners to repentance and trust in His mercy, especial- ly in times of harrowing trials which have, or which will fall on our country and on humanity. Fr. Andrasz also tells of a letter he received from the United States, informing him of the spread of the message and devotion in that country. Fr. Andrasz writes: The devotion to the Divine mercy in its new forms is spreading beyond the borders of our country, and a telling example of this is a letter which the author of this booklet [Fr. Andrasz] received from the United States, from Eden Hill, Stockbridge, Massachusetts, from Fr. Joseph Scielski, MIC, dated November, 1947. It contains the following information. “Here in America this devotion is spreading at a fast pace. Our Congregation [The Congregation of Marians of the Immaculate Conception] is also involved in its spread. We began this work after the arrival of one of our priests from Russia. He brought with him a description of the rev- elations of Sr. Faustina, and a “pro memoria” of Fr. Sopocko. First it was the Felician Sisters who became inter- ested and published the Novena to The Divine Mercy in the Polish language. Soon after we were also encouraged to do the same. To this day, we have published the Novena (the Chaplet, Litany, and brief description of this new devotion) in both the Polish and the English languages. We have pub- lished 50,000 Novenas in Polish, 100,000 in English, and 250,000 Images. We have also prepared for publication the Novena together with the Chaplet and a description of the revelations in the French language. The “pro memoria” of Fr. Sopocko was reprinted, and we have mailed it to all of the ordinaries of the United States and Canada, and also to the rectors and presidents of seminaries and universities.
