Pillars of Fire In My Soul
worshiping of Jesus in the Most Holy Eucharist — the very source of Mercy Itself on earth. 21. See footnote 18 above. 22. Early in her Diary (Notebook I, p. 13), in all simplicity, the Saint recorded a vision she was given about her own exal- tation by the Lord. She saw herself hurrying towards the altar of the convent chapel from where a voice was telling her to take her place on the altar, while everyone around her was throwing at her whatever they could get their hands on, so that she was forced to make her way quickly to the designated spot on the altar. The great crowd included her superiors, fellow sisters, the girls the sisters took care of, and even her parents. As soon as she got to the designated place on the altar, however, the people who made up that same crowd began to stretch forth their hands and beg for graces. And the Sister added that she didn’t hold it against them that they were throwing all those things at her, but that in reality she felt a more particular love precisely for those persons who thus forced her to advance more quickly to the place designated for her. At that moment inconceivable happiness flooded her soul and she heard these words: Do as you will, hand out graces as you will, to whom you will and when you will (Diary, 31). Instantly the vision vanished. 23. It must be kept in mind that even at the time this booklet was written (1947), very little was known in Poland and elsewhere around the world concerning the happenings in Fatima in 1917. 24. In the second edition of Fr. Andrasz’s work, bearing the imprimatur of His Eminence Prince Adam Stefan Cardinal Sapieha, he includes the following information. Vatican radio aired a program on February 24, 1948, entitled, “Sister Faustina, an apostle of Divine Mercy.” The program stated: Divine Mercy … We Trust in You! 77
