devotion encompasses ever new hearts, ever new localities in our country, so that no one and no place would remain untouched by it. The next task awaiting us is to see to it that this age-old devotion in its new form conquers other lands and peoples — indeed, the whole of humanity. Some, and perhaps many, may say, “This goes beyond our strength!” We answer, “Ours — yes! But if we join our little strength to that of Jesus, to whom ‘is given all power in heaven and on earth’; and if we trust without bounds , as our Lord demands from those who worship The Divine Mercy; surely, we will be able to perform this gigantic but also splendid task.” Mankind must energetically and completely shake off a dou- ble falsehood in which a notable part of it has been enmeshed for the longest time: the first falsehood — as though mankind were not dependent upon its Creator and His laws; the second falsehood — as though before Him mankind were not guilty of sins, and grave ones at that. The recognition of its essential dependence upon God, and acknowledgment of its great sin, which is apostasy from the Creator and His laws, from Christ and His Church — these two are only the first, yet necessary, conditions for mankind to be able to turn effectively to the sources of its salvation. The one who points to these sources is mankind’s Redeemer — He, who called Himself the Son of Man — Jesus Christ. He solemnly proclaims that, for this present age, the inexhaustible springs of divine mercy are the source of salvation for the human race and that it is to these that humanity must turn wholeheartedly. It is we, the worshipers of The Divine Mercy, who must cry out to the whole world so strongly, that mankind will take heed and understand the serious warning coming from the best of its Sons, Jesus Christ, Himself: Divine Mercy … We Trust in You! 65
