Pillars of Fire In My Soul

She wrote: While praying for Poland, I heard these words: I have grown particularly fond of Poland, and if she will be obedient to My will, I will exalt her in might and holiness. From her will come forth the spark that will prepare the world for My final coming (Diary, 1732). At the beginning of this booklet we saw that The Devotion to The Divine Mercy in its new form had spread here and there, beyond the borders of Poland, into other countries. 24 In the main, however, up to now, it has been growing mostly in Poland, particularly in certain centers there. [Editor’s Note: Let us bear in mind that this was written in 1947. Since then, the sit- uation has changed greatly.] This is not surprising. After all, it was in Poland that the devotion was born, before so dreadful a catastrophe at that. It pleased the Savior to call one of Poland’s peasant girls to great sanctity and to choose her to be the “apostle and secretary of The Divine Mercy”. However, she has already gone back to the Lord. She was but the initiator of this great and profound movement which is to lead the straying world back to The Divine Mercy. Most certainly she will be interceding with God for this great cause. As a matter of fact, after one of her lengthier conversations with the Savior, at the end of which He assured her that by reciting the Chaplet she was bringing mankind closer to Him, she uttered this fervent prayer: O my Jesus, though I will go to You and You will fill me with Yourself, nevertheless I will not forget about humanity. I desire to draw aside the veils of heaven, so that the earth would have no doubts about The Divine Mercy ... O how ardently I desire that all mankind turn with trust to Your Mercy (Diary, 930). Upon us, then, the living worshipers of The Divine Mercy, rests this great and privileged task of seeing to it that this 64 Pillars of Fire in My Soul
