In her spiritual Diary, however, we do find still other means as, for example, her own prayers to The Divine Mercy which burst forth from her heart like fiery sparks capable of inflaming in other hearts a lively devotion to The Divine Mercy. On the basis of one of these prayers there already was composed a Litany to The Divine Mercy which is widely known and is being sung during services in various centers. Sister Faustina’s prayers, full of praises for The Divine Mercy, enlivened with great trust, often, too, with apostolic zeal, when published as a separate collection, most certainly will set afire similar sentiments in other hearts as do presently the aforementioned Litany, Novena and Chaplet. A powerful means for evoking in souls a widespread and deep turning to The Divine Mercy will undoubtedly be a more extensive biography of Sister Faustina. It is only a more complete work that will be able to reveal to what heights of virtue the Savior called her; how deeply He allowed her to partake of His sufferings; to what degree He permeated her with the spirit of His mercy. Only a more complete biography will reveal the great wealth of extraordinary, heavenly graces and mystical gifts with which God was pleased to enrich the soul of this humble and unknown religious sister. And He did all that in order to prepare her to be a worthy secretary and apostle of [His] mercy , as He was pleased to call her on sev- eral occasions. By means of this modest booklet, our primary aim was not to bring Sister Faustina to the fore, but rather those things that would enable a wider audience to become better acquainted with the devotion to The Divine Mercy in its new form, and to gain deeper understanding of it. However, according to the loving designs of the Savior, the very person of the saintly Sister Faustina is to play a special role in the spreading of the devotion to The Divine Mercy. The Lord wishes to make her a special intermediary and advocate in this matter. Sister Faustina herself was clearly aware of this mission, that she will be Divine Mercy … We Trust in You! 53
