Pillars of Fire In My Soul
Let us read what Jesus said about this to Sister Faustina. My daughter, tell the whole world about My incon- ceivable mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. The very depths of My tender mercy are opened on that day. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who will approach the fount of My mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment ... Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet ... This Feast emerged from the very depths of My mercy and it is confirmed in the vast depths of My tender mercies ... I desire that it be celebrated with great solemnity on the first Sunday after Easter (Diary, 699). It is clear from the above that: firstly, Jesus earnestly desires the establishment of this feast; secondly, that, just as for the feast of His Heart He designated a certain determined date, namely, the Friday after the Octave of Corpus Christi, so too, for the Feast of Mercy He also designated a specified date: it is to be the first Sunday after Easter. 15 Finally, He attaches to this feast an unusually generous outpouring of graces upon souls who on that day will run to His Mercy with confidence. It may take some time before the Church will institute the Feast of The Divine Mercy. In the meantime, however, we may observe it privately. 16 Worshipers of The Divine Mercy should keep this in mind, however, that before the Feast of Corpus Christi was introduced, and especially the Feast of the Heart of Jesus, it was necessary to overcome many difficulties. This can likewise be the case concerning the feast in honor of The Divine Mercy. They should, therefore, be prepared for this, that Divine Providence will require from them great pains and effort, and especially fervent prayers, before the highest Church 46 Pillars of Fire in My Soul
