SOLEMN HOLY MASS — SUNDAY 1:00 PM Main Celebrant and Homilist: Most Reverend David L. Ricken Bishop of the Diocese of Green Bay, Wisconsin Bishop Ricken was born Nov. 9, 1952 in Dodge City, Kansas. He earned his B.A. in philosophy from Conception Seminary College in Conception, Missouri, in 1974. He conducted his theological studies at St. Meinrad School of Theology in Indiana and the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium where he earned his graduate degree in sacred theology. He then attended the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome where he received a J.C.L. in Canon Law in 1989. Bishop Ricken was ordained a priest on Sept. 12, 1980. His first appointment was as associate pastor to the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Pueblo, CO. He served as an official of the Congregation for the Clergy at the Vatican from Oct. 1996 through Dec. 1999. On Jan. 6, 2000, he was ordained to the episcopacy for the Diocese of Cheyenne at the Basilica of St. Peter in Rome by His Holiness, Pope St. John Paul II. Pope Benedict XVI named Bishop Ricken the twelfth bishop of the Diocese of Green Bay on July 9, 2008. Bishop Ricken serves on the Board of Directors for Relevant Radio and was the first and only diocesan bishop in the United States to officially approve a Marian apparition: the Apparitions of 1859 at the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help in Champion, Wisconsin. The Thomas Aquinas College New England Choir is a student ensemble that enhances campus spiritual life by singing at Sunday Masses, special liturgies, and holiday concerts. Based at the Northfield, Massachusetts campus, the choir performs traditional, polyphonic sacred music.
