ABSTRACT E PHEMERIDES M ARIANORUM 6(2017) 65-72 Charitable work of the Marian Fathers in the 18 th and 19 th centuries Throughout the history of Christianity, the poor, the sick and the homeless found help primarily through the Church. In 18 th and 19 th –century Poland the hospitals were scarce. Their existence depended largely on the financial support of their founders. The Marians were among those religious orders which ran hospitals for the poor and the sick. The author examines this kind of work conducted by the Marians at their monasteries in Raśna, Skórzec, Miroslav, and Mariampole.
