Joseph Sielski, MIC. In light of Blessed Paul VI’s upcoming canonization on Oct. 14, and the approach of November, the month of remembrance for the Holy Souls in Purgatory, we share an excerpt from Pope Paul VI’s letter to Fr. Sielski 45 years ago. In it, the Holy Father offers encouragement to the Marians and their work spreading devotion to the souls in Purgatory: As you continue to offer your spiritual assistance to the souls who are still being purified after this sojourn on earth, you must teach people at the same time that they do not have a lasting dwelling place here, but must seek the one to come (Hebr 13, 14). Thus a really spiritual and holy way of life will give you the strength to carry out that apostolate — so rich in profit and spiritual return —which has been entrusted to your spiritual family. In this way for sure you will be living stones in the building of the Church, which has not been created for anything else, except to make all people sharers in the saving redemption of Christ by spreading His kingdom all over the world.
