Fall-Winter 2013-2014
STEUBENVILLE: Six seminarians and two postulants are at the Marian House of Studies in Steubenville, Ohio. They are studying at Franciscan University of Steubenville this year, either earning an undergrad degree or completing their required 30 hours of philosophy, overseen by Fr. Donald Calloway, MIC, Fr. John Larson, MIC, and Fr. Angelo Casimiro, MIC. STUDIES: Most Marians preparing for the priesthood complete a Master’s in Divinity or a Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology (STB), a graduate-level degree. Studies are sometimes broken up by a pastoral year in Stockbridge or on the road as part of the Marian Evangelization Team. WASHINGTON, D.C.: More than a dozen seminarians and novices are residing at the Marian Scholasticate in the nation’s capital this school year. The seminarians are studying theology, aiming to earn either a Master’s in Divinity or a Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology (STB) at the Dominican House of Studies, overseen by Fr. Mark Baron, MIC, and Fr. Jim McCormack, MIC. VOWS: In 2013, eight men were accepted into the community. Fifteen Marian seminarians renewed their temporary vows, while Br. Chris Alar, MIC, professed his final vows. Other Marians remain in formation following their final vows or acceptance into the community.
