The General Chapter of the Congregation of Marians, motivated by a special care to foster in the community of the Church devotion to the mystery of the Immaculate Conception of the B.V.M. as well as continuing the centuries old tradition of the Congregation, encourages all Superiors of Provinces, Vice Provinces and Vicariates to establish in their houses and the Churches entrusted to their care the Confraternity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The members of the Confraternity, priests and laity, as people dedicated to the Immaculate Conception are called not only to a personal striving for holiness but also in assisting others, especially the deceased who are undergoing purification in their pilgrimage, to the fullness of participation in the community of the redeemed. a) An external sign of their belonging to the confraternity is the scapular of the Immaculate Conception of the B.V.M., also known as the "blue scapular." b) During their life as well as after death, the members of the Confraternity are admitted to a share in the spiritual goods of the Congregation. c) The responsibilities and rights of those belonging to this association as well as its interned structure should be defined by special statutes approved by the Superior General (C 122) NV. 11.
