Miejscem Kapituły będzie, podobnie jak przed sześciu laty, Casa "Divin Maestro" w Ariccia pod Rzymem. Zwołanie kapituły generalnej w związku z patronalnym świętem Zgromadzenia dobrze wyraża związek Kapituły doniosłego dla naszej wspólnoty wydarzenia - z osobą Niepokalanej. W Niepokalanej Matce Zbawiciela znajdziemy najlepszą przewodniczkę w przygotowaniach do Kapituły i w jej przebiegu. Cele Kapituły generalnej określają Konstytucje: strzeżenie dziedzictwa Zgromadzenia, popieranie ciągłego rozwoju i przystosowanej odnowy Zgromadzenia zgodnie z jego charakterem i misją, omówienie ważniejszych spraw oraz wydanie odpowiednich zarządzeń (K 237). Zatrzymajmy teraz uwagę na dwóch pierwszych celach: strzeżenie dziedzictwa i popieranie rozwoju. Ojciec Święty w adhortaqi Vita consecrata wskazuje na nie, jako na najważniejsze zadania zakonników: powinniście nie tylko wspominać i opowiadać swoją chwalebną przeszłość, ale także budować nową, wielką historię! Wpatrujcie się w przyszłość, ku której kieruje was Duch, aby znów dokonać z wami wielkich dzieł (VC110). W duchu Magnificat Nieco wcześniej w tymże dokumencie czytamy: Przeżywajcie w pełni wasze poświęcenie się Bogu, aby nie zabrakło w świecie tego promienia God, I convoke the Ordinary General Chapter which will begin on June 20, 1999 and, if God wills it and the chapter body does not decide otherwise, it will end on July 4th. The Chapter will meet in the same location as six years ago, in Casa "Divin Maestro" in Ariccia near Rome. The convocation of the General Chapter joined to the Patronal Feast of our Congregation expresses well the close connection that exists between the Chapter - an important event of our Congregation - and our Immaculate Lady. In tire Immaculate Mother of our Savior we will find the best guide for our Chapter preparations and deliberations. The task of the Chapter is stated in our Constitutions: to protect the patrimony of the Congregation, to promote the Congregation's continuing progress and renewal suited to the present conditions, according to its own character and mission, to treat matters of major importance, and also to issue appropriate decrees (C 237). Let us for a moment consider the first two tasks: to protect the patrimony and promote progress. The Holy Father in the apostolic exhortation Vita Consecrata considers these as the most important tasks of the religious: You have not only a glorious history to remember and to recount but also agreat history still to be accomplished!
