Servant of Mary new file

of the “Rule of the Ten Virtues of the Blessed Virgin Mary” were very close to his heart. When reading the introduction to “Morning Star”, one has the impression that all the advice contained there comes from Father Casimir’s own experience. Here is a fragment of what he wrote in his introduction : It is my advice to all those who truly and sincerely desire to practice the virtues necessary for salvation, that they first eradicate the bad habits and customs that are contrary to virtue, so that they might be able to grow in virtue. Furthermore, they must avoid temptations and opportunities for evil. 1. For we cannot consider someone to be chaste if he frivolously puts his chastity at risk; if he does not resist temptations bravely and calmly looks at what is indecent; if he does not discipline his body by fasting, by keeping vigils, and by moderation in food and drink. 2. How can one consider himself prudent who does not know how to restrain his tongue, so that he would not say anything against God, neighbor, or virtue; who does not avoid vain and false words; who does not control his laughter and who does not discipline himself to behave in a dignified manner with an attitude befitting a child of God ? 3. How can one consider himself humble who puts him- self above others and ignores his neighbor; who avoids menial tasks and, if obliged to perform them, does so with great sadness, dislike, and complaints ?
