Therefore, Father Casimir quoted the words of St. Paul encouraging us to embrace Christ’s own attitude, adding : Since the Doctor of the Nations tells us to imitate him and other Apostles because he and the others imitated Christ, why then shouldn’t we imitate Mary who was closest to Christ and most intimate- ly involved in the matters of His life … Furthermore, we are to imitate Mary not only in the manner that she imitat- ed Christ the Lord, but also in all things to which He, being both God and man, was not obliged. We are to respect and love Him, trust Him and believe in Him. In our gratitude for the grace of redemption, we should imi- tate not Christ, but Mary — the first participant of redemption, free from the stain of the Original Sin. Could it not be, then, that Father Wyszy<ski’s thought about changing the world through a true and complete devotion to Mary be applied to our own times ? I gave the book on the imitation of the evangelical virtues of the Virgin Mary the title “Morning Star” because I saw how the entire world is plunged in evil, has many bad habits, is unaware of what is good and beneficial, and through its mistakes and heresies becomes separated from Christ -– the Sun of Justice. Just like the morning star, Aurora, announces the rising of the Sun, so will the virtues of the Virgin Mary point the way to Christ, the Sun of Justice, for those who readily undertake to practice them. 69 THE SERVANT OF MARY IMMACULATE
