The King of Portugal writes to the Procurator General in Spain demanding that he should bring our friars from Poland to Portugal as he wants to honor us with a royal foundation. Father Wyszy<ski insisted that someone should be sent from Poland as soon as possible. He suggested that he himself, Father John Kanty Szkraffer, a Czech, and another Pole with him for the honor of the Polish nation should be sent. He wrote in detail what they should take with them to Portugal and suggested that they seek the recommendation and support of the Polish lords, so that they would assist us in this matter and fund our journey to Portugal for our Homeland’s greater honor and respect. For it is a great honor for the Polish Kingdom that a Polish order of religious should be summoned by such a monarch. Father Wyszy<ski sent letters about the matter to an official in Warsaw, Father Anthony Casimir Ostrowski ]later, the Primate of Poland\; to the Bishop of Pozna<, Theodore Czartoryski; to the Castellan of Rawa, Felician Trzci<ski, his close friend; to his alumnus, Father Casimir Polak; and to his own brother, Michael. He also wrote sev- eral times to the Superior General, Father Kajetan Wetycki. While still in Rome, he kept insisting that a final deci- sion be made.
