end. The Congregation issued a ban forbidding the mem- bers of the congregation “Mariae vitae” to wear the Marian habit. Father Wyszy<ski also obtained the instructions he sought as to how to begin the beatification process of Father Stanislaus Papczy<ski and sent them to Poland. He insisted that neither time nor money should be spared to conduct this process and believed that the future of the congregation depended on this effort. He attributed the success and devel- opment of the Order to the intercession of the Founder whom he himself loved with the love of a son. He insisted in his letters to the Superior General that this matter should be promptly attended to while the handful of eyewitnesses of Father Papczy<ski’s life and work was still alive. He claimed that the matter of the beatification was directly con- nected to the spreading of devotion to the Immaculate Conception and to the growth of the congregation. He also pointed out that, in the event an appropriate per- son could not be found to assume the tasks in this cause for beatification, he would readily do so and forgo his journey to Portugal. He stressed, however, that for the love of God he was not alone in the congregation. Why should not what is most beneficial to us take place without me ? He emphasized that no one should be afraid of the costs involved for this par- ticular purpose. To the contrary, Divine Providence would be manifest, assisting them through the support of benefactors, as long as the work was undertaken.
