However, the foundation con- tract was signed between Francis Casimir Chojecki and the Superior General of the Marians, Father Jacek Wasilewski, only on March 4, 1767, in Policzy<ce. Chojecki’s son, Joseph, joined the Marians in Ostrzyk[w and was given the religious name of Vincent. Yet he remained a so-called perpetual cleric because following his profession, it turned out that he suffered from epilepsy. He bore his illness patiently during his ten year stay in the Order. He died on May 25, 1780, in his native Ostrzyk[w. It was probably for his sake that the Chojecki family conceived of a foundation in the estate which they administered. The foundation in Ostrzyk[w did not survive long because the Chojecki’s lost Samczyki in 1782 to Stanislaus Lubomirski. Although in the official documents the monastery is referred to as a residence in Ostrzyk[w, it happened to be located in Samczyki. After he had taken possession of Samczyki, Lubomirski did not want to rec- ognize the foundation and all that had been bequeathed to the monastery. The Marians had to leave Samczyki in 1789. Two years later the walls of the church and the monastery were torn down and all traces of the Marians in Samczyki disappeared. On November 12, 1750, Father Wyszy<ski turned over the care of the Marians to the new Superior General, Father Kajetan Wetycki.
