I continue to pray to Fr. Stanislaus every day to protect my son. — JH, New York, NY My son comes home Several years ago, my son, once a healthy and happy young boy, became seriously ill. He was despondent, angry, depressed, suicidal, and he turned his back on everyone who loved him, especially God. At 15, after visiting several doctors and therapists, he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. He took his medica- tion to try to feel better, but nothing seemed to help. For five years he suffered, and our family was nearly torn apart. He continued to spiral downward until last year when he hit bottom. Despite all our efforts to help him, he took to the streets. We didn’t know where he was. I was in such a state of despair. I came across an issue of Marian Helper and read of the help that Fr. Stanislaus Papczynski has given to many who have prayed for his intercession. It was a last drop of hope. I closed my eyes, asked for his help, and then I let it go. I put it in the Lord’s hands. Within a week, my son called from a phone booth. He said, “Mom, I want to come home. I need a shower. And I need to find a job and get back into school.” I can- not describe what I heard in my son’s voice. He sounded different, like the person I’d known when he was a child. I hadn’t heard his true voice in so many years, but I recognized it in that phone call. 56 B L E S S E D S T A N I S L A U S P A P C Z Y N S K I
