November 159 Marijampolė were MICHAEL ALIŠAUSKAS (Ah-lih-shao-skas), JOSEPH KUDYRKA (Koo-dir-ka), and VINCENT WALENTA (Vah-len-ta). They died young. The fourth was MATTHIAS WASILEWSKI (Wa-shee-lev-ski), who became a parish priest and worked with Fr. John Totoraitis for three years. The seminarians from Skórzec were JOSEPH CHROMIŃSKI (Hromeen’-ski), who died in 1903 at the age of 61 as a parish priest in Zambrów; PETER OZIMIŃSKI (Ohz-meen'-ski), a priest of the diocese of Lublin, who died in 1925 at the age of 81; and STEPHEN SZOSTEK (Sho-stek) who worked in Sokołów Podlaski (So-ko-woovf Pohd-las-kee) in 1911. November 16 On November 16, 1974, Brother ALEXANDER PIASECKI (Pia-sets-ki) died of a heart attack at the age of 67 at the house in Skórzec. He was a member of the Polish Province for 48 years. He served the community with dedication for many years as a tailor at the house in Bielany and then in Skórzec, where he is buried. November 17 On November 17, 1824, Father ADAM TARCZEWSKI (Tar-chev-ski) died at the age of 50, while serving as chaplain in Siedlce (Shed-ults-eh), where he is buried. In 1976, Father CASIMIR ALOYSIUS MATULAITIS died in London at the age of 82. He was a priest for 59 years and a religious for 57. He was successively local Superior in Chicago, Marijampolė, London, and Rome. He was the director of Draugas and Laivas and Vice-Postulator for the beatification cause of Blessed George. He wrote a number of books on asceticism, hagiography, and history. He is buried in St. Pancras Cemetery in London. November 18 On November 18, 1830, Father TIMOTHY PURWIŃSKI (Poor-vin’- ski), a “Father of the Order,” died at the monastery in Marijampolė. He fulfilled the offices of President and Novice Master. Eulogized as “a truly religious man, dear to all,” he preached the Word of God with zeal for many years, dedicating himself especially to the instruction of the youth, “both by word and more so, by example.” In 2001, Father JOHN JANČIUS (Yon-choos) died in Chicago. He was 92 years old, a religious for 76 years and a priest for 67. He was Provincial Superior of the American Province of St. Casimir and served as a parish
