A u g u s t A ugust 1 from the mArIAn CAlenDAr: OnAugust 1, 1953, the servant of god father JAnIs (John) menDrIKs , a member of the Latvian Province, died in the opinion of sanctity at the age of 46 in a prison camp in Vorkuta. He was a religious for 27 years. In the camp he secretly and faithfully fulfilled his priestly duties. During a strike, when the administration brought in armed troops for pacification, he placed himself in the first row, preparing the prisoners for death. The soldiers fired, and he was killed while reciting the for- mula of absolution. He is buried in a communal tomb near the prison camp in Vorkuta. On February 9, 2021, his beatification process was opened in Warsaw, Poland. l. Let us pray that the Servant of God John may attain the glory of the Blessed, through Christ Our Lord. All. Amen. from theAlbum of the DeCeAseD: On August 1, 2017, Brother STANISLAUS SĘKOWSKI (Sen-kovski), a member of the Polish Province, passed away at a hospital in Konin. He was 81 years old and a religious for 61 years. During his life, he served as a sacristan at various houses of the Polish Province. A ugust 2 On August 2, 2008, Father CZESLAUS SZYMAŃSKI (Shee-man'ski), a member of the Polish Province, died at the age of 80. He was a religious for almost 60 years and a priest for 51. He carried out various pastoral assignments in the Province. Later, he was asked to serve with other Marians in the Ukraine, where he stayed until ill health made him return to Poland in 2001. In July 2007, at the request of the General Superior, he went to the Ukrainian Vicariate for another year. Forced to return to Poland because of his further declining health, he died in Góra Kalwaria and is buried there. A ugust 3 On August 3, 1793, Brother MICHAEL ZEYDEL drowned while trying to swim across the Vistula River. He is buried in the crypt of the Goźlin church.
