† A LBUM OF THE D ECEASED F ATHERS AND B ROTHERS † 98 J uly 26 On July 26, 1769, Father GREGORY OLSZEWSKI (Ol-shef-ski), a truly virtuous man and president of the monastery, died at the age of 58 at the Góra Kalwaria monastery. He is buried near the Cenacle of the Lord in Góra Kalwaria. In 1873, Father GEORGE NARUSZEWICZ died at the age of 74 at the monastery in Marijampolė. He fulfilled the duties of president at various monaster- ies, of Secretary General, of vicar general and, ultimately, of General Superior for nine years. He is buried in Marijampolė. J uly 27 On July 27, 1966, Father LADISLAUS POLONSKIS died at the age of 78 at Birstonas, a health resort in Lithuania. He was a priest for 53 years and a religious for 25. He was pastor in Marijampolė and in Žemaiciu Kalvarija. Exiled in 1946 to Siberia by the Communists, he remained there for 10 years. He returned to Lithuania with ruined health and very weakened. During his last years he worked at the Marian Shrine in Siluva. He is buried in the Marian Fathers’ cemetery in Marijampolė. J uly 28 On July 28, 1931, a postulant CHESTER SMULKO (Shmool’-ko) died at the age of 18 at the house in Druya, Belarus. He is buried in Druya. In 1944, Brother ANTHONY ERDMAN , a pharmacist, age 84, was killed in the course of military actions in Latvia. He was a religious for 20 years. He is buried in Viļāni. In 1977, Father LEON HOROSZKO (Ho-rosh-ko), a Belarusian member of the Roman house, died in Paris at the age of 66 following a kidney surgery. He was a priest of the Byzantine-Slavonic Rite for 40 years and a religious for 18. Originally a member of the Orthodox Church, he embraced the Catholic faith as an adult and was ordained to the priesthood after finishing his studies in Lvov. He served among his compatriots in London, Paris and Rome, where he directed the Belarusian sec- tion of the Vatican Radio. He is buried in St. Pancratius’ cemetery in London. In 1990, Father LADISLAUS KORZEKWA (Ko-zhek-va) died unexpected- ly of a heart attack at the age of 67, while on vacation in Poland visiting his family. He was a member of the Brazilian Vicariate, a priest for 30 years and a religious for 37. A profoundly devout man, he had a great desire to lead a more intense contem- plative life and experience closer union with God among the Camaldolese monks.
