Sister Faustina Kowalska: Her LIfe and MIssion

This, then , is why the t ru th abou t Mercy is so neces sary to today’s generation. The Pope says, "The tru th revealed in Christ concerning God, tha t He is "the Father o f Mercy", allows us to "see" H im specially near to man when man suffers, when he is threatened a t the very root o f his hum an d ign ity and existence. Therefore many people and many communities, directed by a lively sense o f faith, turn almost spontaneously to the Divine Mercy in the present situation o f the Church and the world. I t is Christ H im se l f who doubtless causes this, acting through H is S p ir it in the depths o f the hum an heart. For the d iv ine mystery revealed by H im , tha t He is "the Father o f mercy", becomes, in the context o f the threats to hum an ity in our times, a particular challenge to the Church." In following the life of S ister F au s tina , we shall more easily unde rs tand th a t tru th of which C h ris t rem inds us through her, th a t He H im self is streng th in over coming difficulty and th a t He is our hope. He says, "Come to Me, a ll who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11, v. 28). Bishop Szczepan Wesoty 7
