sion to pay ju s t a little visit... I observed no obvious fau lts in her. The only th ing she m igh t be reproached for, and I met this reproach several times, was that she was always wanting to pray... I do not know whether she had any interior problems, for she did not mention anything... She was always sm iling and accepted even a sharp reproof quietly and w ith a sm ile ." I t is also worth recalling th a t from the very begin­ ning th e then Superior of the convent on Zytnia S tree t in Warsaw, Mother Michael Moraczewska, had a positive and kindly a ttitude to Helena. Later, too, when from 1928 onwards Mother Michael was Superior General, h e r a ttitude to Helena remained the same. She always took special care of S is te r Faustina , as she was by then , facilitating, as much as was possible in th e Congregation, the fulfilment of the mission to spread the devotion to the Divine Mercy which Jesu s was la te r to en tru s t to S is te r Faustina . For a final touch to th is picture of the young pos­ tu lan t , we should see how h e r companions accepted her. S ister Joachim G., who spen t the la s t months of the postulancy with her, followed by th e novitiate in Cracow, said, "I met S is ter Faustina in the Postulancy in Cracow. She was cheerful and happy; she almost always had a smile on her lips. Her whole personality seemed to express tha t she had come g lad ly to serve the Lord Jesus. By her behaviour she encouraged me and other sisters towards such a joy fu l service o f God. She always had something to ta lk about, especially on matters concerned w ith God. She was always the most animated at recreation; she liked to speak in an emotional way; she was always conscious o f the need to love one’s neighbour; she never broke silence except 66
