FOREWORD St. John teaches us th a t "No one has ever seen God; the only Son who is in the bosom o f the father, He has made H im known ''.(John I, v. 18). Christ came into the world so th a t , by His hum an ity , He could pass on His divine mission, tell us the tru th about His F a the r , and through His death and resu rrec tion un ite us once again with His Fa ther. His mission is constantly passed on to th e world by people who, because of th e i r special vocation, voice it down the generations. I t is also passed on by all who, living with Christ, witness to Him in th e ir lives according to the la s t commandment of Christ, "that repentance and forgiveness o f sins should be preached in H is N am e to a ll nations... You are witnesses o f these things" (Luke 24, v. 47-48). From everyday experience we know th a t a w itness is one who shares with others w ha t he has seen and heard, someone who shares with us his experiences. Christ commanded His disciples so to do, and also all who believe in Him. An apostle is, above all, a man of God, a m an who lives by Christ. An apostle is no t a man who propagan dizes, seeking successes and followers, b u t a m an living by Ch ris t and revealing the Name of C h ris t to the world. In a farewell address a t the L as t Supper, He asked th a t as He was with th e F a th e r , so those who believed should be one w ith Him.
